VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO, DID SOCIAL KILL THE VIDEO?

IS SHORT FORM CONTENT IS THE NEW MUSIC VIDEO?

Social media has been booming for years, with the creation of youtube, facebook, and even its predecessors like myspace and friendster. If you're from the Millenial generation of above, than you more than likely remember your "Top 5" friends, and programming a music player onto your myspace page! But if you are any younger, then you might be more farmiliar with instagram, twitter, triller, and oh yes, tiktok. We've seen many artists rise to popularity from the depths of an instagram explore page or for you page, but where does that leave artists in 2024? Many labels have started to skower the confines of youtube less and less, and are signing artists off of TikTok hits instead of streams on streaming platforms or youtube views. So do I think that the music video is dead? The short answer is NO! That being said, I don't think they will do as much for a rising artist as they would have in the past. The best advice I have found in my research, is to still make videos, but don't spend so much money on them as you might have in 2018, and focus HEAVILY on short-form (tiktok, instagram, youtube reels) as possible and you will surely (with consistency) begin to see success!
